Welcome to Momentum Throws, your premier resource for all things throwing! My name is Jared Tyler and I am thrilled to share my journey and passion for throwing sports with you.

From Texas Roots to Throwing Pursuits Hailing from Mesquite, Texas, where football, basketball, and baseball reigned supreme, my sporting journey began like many others. I was immersed in these popular sports during my formative years, and even secured a commitment to play football at Midwestern State University. However, deep down, my heart belonged to throwing. I made a life-changing decision to decommit from football, a path I had diligently worked towards, to follow my true passion for throwing sports. It was a risk, but one that I knew I had to take. And as they say, when passion calls, you must answer – the beauty on the other side is worth the leap of faith.

A Leap of Faith and a Discus PR Challenge

My decision to decommit from football came late in the recruiting year, leaving few coaches interested. I had my sights set on Texas A&M, and they gave me a chance to prove myself by setting a personal record (PR) in discus. The pressure was on, and I relentlessly practiced, but sometimes pressure can lead to unexpected outcomes. Nevertheless, the University of Houston's coaching staff stepped in, offering me an opportunity I will forever be grateful for. Houston was not just the best program in Conference USA; it was fast becoming one of the top programs in the country. However, my journey took another turn as I eventually transferred to UTSA, where I experienced significant growth in my athletic abilities and achieved the title of Discus Champion. Despite battling through a challenging ankle injury during my senior season, I threw 52 meters and knew that with good health, 55+ meters was within reach. No regrets, but if I could change one thing, it would be avoiding that injury. Through it all, my college coaching career was set in motion.

Coaching Success and Returning Home

My coaching journey began at Texas Lutheran University and concluded with the University of New Orleans, an institution on the rise. These experiences allowed me to learn from and be part of incredibly successful programs, collaborate with renowned coaches, and mentor young athletes. I cherished every moment of coaching, but life had other plans. I got married, and my wife and I decided it was time to return to our Texas roots.

The Vision for Momentum Throws The vision for Momentum Throws was born from a desire to guide and mentor young athletes who lacked proper guidance and resources. My own journey from a novice in 7th grade to a seasoned thrower taught me the value of dedicated coaching and access to resources. I believe I can be the bridge for many aspiring throwers, helping them discover their potential and achieve their dreams.

A Lifelong Love for Throwing

My love for throwing began in 7th grade, where, with no prior experience, I managed to throw 42 feet. I immersed myself in learning through countless YouTube videos and studying the techniques of the sport's greats. In 8th grade, I threw the shot put 48 feet and the discus 142 feet, and my passion for throwing was firmly cemented. Throughout my athletic career, I've achieved numerous championships, from Pee Wee and Middle School to High School and College, both as an athlete and coach. I've had the privilege of learning from some of the world's best coaches and forging friendships with legendary throwers. It's clear to me that my diverse experiences were not by accident but a purposeful journey that has led me here.

Passion and Purpose

My passion for the throws runs deep, and my hunger for knowledge is insatiable. I am committed to continuous learning, knowing that there is always more to discover and share. It's time to give back to the young throwing community, which is why Momentum Throws has come to life. I'm excited to provide young throwers with the resources and vision that many parents and athletes didn't know existed. Here, you'll receive college-level coaching at a young age and exposure through our rapidly growing brand. My ultimate goal is to help athletes secure a college education and, more importantly, to make a lasting impact on the world through the power of throwing.
